These three major telecom operators have come together to jointly develop a standardised digital platform under the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, with the goal of enhancing digital identity verification, combating online fraud, and promoting a safer digital ecosystem. The GSMA Open Gateway provides a global framework of common network application programming interfaces (APIs) that streamline access to mobile operator networks. This framework is essential for the development of a standardised digital platform, which will enable interoperability and drive digital transformation.

Enhances user identity verification | Prevents online fraud by identifying suspicious transactions | Provides location-based services | Verifies device information | Supports secure payment transactions |
The collaboration will focus on critical functions, including authentication, fraud prevention, geolocation, device verification, and payments. These APIs will also enhance performance for applications such as gaming, virtual reality, and remote operations.
“The GSMA Open Gateway initiative is a significant step forward for Vietnam’s telecom sector, enabling the development of a standardised digital platform that will drive digital transformation and create a safer online environment,” said Nguyen Duc Tran, Director General of the GSMA Vietnam Office.
The GSMA Open Gateway framework also enables integration with major cloud providers like AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, as well as tech partners such as Nokia and Ericsson. This allows operators to expand services without major infrastructure investments.
