DoT Rolls Out 300KM of Fiber 900 Base Stations for Maha Kumbh Mela

Preparations for Maha Kumbh Mela 2025

The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 is one of the largest gatherings of people in the world, with an estimated 120 million attendees expected to converge on Prayagraj. The event requires a robust and reliable communication infrastructure to support the massive influx of people, ensuring that essential services like emergency response, medical facilities, and information dissemination are not disrupted.

  • Optical Fibre Laying: The DoT has laid 126 km of optical fibre throughout the Prayagraj city area, providing a high-speed backbone for data transmission and communication. New Tower Installations: 328 new towers/masts have been installed, enhancing coverage across the urban landscape and ensuring that mobile networks are available throughout the city. 4G/5G Network Deployment: The DoT has deployed 4G/5G networks to provide high-speed internet connectivity to the attendees, ensuring that they can stay connected and access essential services.

    The telecom service providers have also agreed to provide free Wi-Fi in the Mela area.
