Uganda Adopts Data Communication for Enhanced Air Navigation Reliability

This upgrade involves the use of Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) technology, which allows aircraft to broadcast their position, altitude, and other relevant data to ground stations and other aircraft. This technology has been implemented in various parts of the world, including the United States, Europe, and Asia, and has proven to be effective in enhancing air traffic management. The implementation of ADS-B in Uganda is expected to bring about significant improvements in air traffic management.

The shift from traditional terrestrial technology to GNSS-based navigation is a significant paradigm shift. It signifies a move away from the limitations of physical infrastructure and towards a more flexible, decentralized, and resilient system. This paradigm shift is driven by the need for increased accuracy, reliability, and availability of navigation data.
